Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) Makes Your Hair Grow Long Fast

Riboflavin is not the most glamorous of hair vitamins simply because in the body it is such a building block of everything in our body. If you want to know how to make your hair grow faster then you need to understand the role that this vitamin plays. Without it our bodies are unable to help convert carbohydrates from food into more energy. This is very important because Riboflavin is what encourages cells to grow, and that includes the cells that make up each and every one of our hair strands.

Riboflavin is also a “builder” type of vitamin that searches out damaged cells in the body including those in your hair and in your scalp. The vitamin repairs the type of wrecked DNA that can cause dry, non-absorbent, lifeless hair, kinky hair, dry hair and thinning hair.  In fact if you do not get enough riboflavin your hair can actually fall out.

You need 1.1 mg daily of Riboflavin in order to keep your hair healthy and you can up that amount if you want to encourage your hair follicles to increase the production of hair cells. You can find riboflavin in food sources like rice, mushrooms, milk, Brussels sprouts, spinach, eggs, whole grains and almonds.

However one of the problems with riboflavin is that it is destroyed by the cooking process.  This is why taking oral vitamin supplements is recommended by hair experts because both pills and liquid forms of the vitamin go through the bloodstream and get to building skin and hair cells faster then if you wait for your body to absorb the food form.

Vitamin B2 also works in close tandem by activating vitamin B6 which are two vitamins that are absolutely crucial for hair growth. When these three vitamins are working in synergy your hair will grow fast!  As an added bonus riboflavin also helps your skin and nails look fantastic as well!

Yet another role that Riboflavin plays in keeping your hair gorgeous has to do with keeping its color. If you do not like seeing those little wisps of gray creep into your natural tresses then start supplementing your hair with Vitamin B2.  Even though it is actually B6 that produces the melanin that colors hair, it is unable to color your locks without B2 as well.

This is why it is often recommended that you take Riboflavin in a B vitamin that is at least 50 mg. If you also take a vitamin C with the B vitamins your body’s ability to absorb the riboflavin will also increase.

If you are already taking a Vitamin B complex and not seeing any type of improvement in your hair then the problem might be that you are sabotaging your body’s ability to absorb them in other ways.  Both smoking and drinking alcohol can block absorption of all B vitamins into the body as can both recreational and prescription drug use. In this case, addiction and pharmaceutical interference can directly prevent your body from using the B vitamins no matter how much supplementation you choose to consume to correct the situation. Quitting smoking and greatly reducing alcohol intake is the only answer if you want great hair in this case.  Remember that these are just some tips on what makes hair grow faster.  You should always consult a physician prior to dramatically altering your diet or taking supplements.
